Lancôme 'Crushed Rose' - I realize this first lipstick isn't really mauve but it deserved a mention because it's really pretty, has a smooth application and good staying power. It's lightweight and a burnt shade of red that isn't too in your face, but will still accentuate your overall look and features, in a natural way.

KVD 'Lolita' - this has been one of my go-to's for a few years now. It has a soft and creamy application that goes on smoothly, but as with all matte lipsticks, your lips do get wrinkly looking upon closer inspection. Luckily in pictures you can't really tell though. The staying power on this one is really good - even when I'm trying to scrub it off, it leaves a stain. The colour is also really flattering and one that I think would work for most complexions. Although this colour is darker, I think it really highlights the lip silhouette vs drowning it out if that makes any sense (sometimes I think dark lipsticks tend to make your lips look smaller and don't flatter your natural lip curve). Another thing I want to point out though is that this lipstick and the Lancome one filmed really light in photos but are quite a bit darker in person (you can probably tell from the swatch on my arm that they are darker)
Stila 'Patina' + 'Patina Shimmer' - Patina is a new favourite I recently discovered and similarily to KVD, the application is smooth and buttery. It's so light and soft, and the colour is so pretty! This is another matte lipstick that does look crackled/wrinkly after a while but I think if you applied a layer of clear gloss over, it'd help. Also, exfoliating and prepping your lips with something like the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask helps a lot too. Since I loved Patina so much, I wanted to also try Patina Shimmer since I thought that would solve my love/hate relationship with matte lipsticks but I'm sooo disappointed in how different Patina Shimmer is!! It's SO pink and so glittery (rather than shimmery) - it almost looks cheap. I will be returning this one but wanted to show you guys before I send it back

Sephora 'Mauve Spirit' - this one I also just bought recently and I think this one's really comfortable on my lips. It's lightweight and doesn't leave a tacky/sticky feeling but still gives off a nice shine. Sephora's line of lipsticks are also really affordable (reg. $19, I got on sale for $7 and today I saw its $5!)

What are some of your favourite mauve lipsticks that I didn't mention on the list? x
