genuine health & sproos collagen review

Friday, April 19, 2019

our body naturally produces collagen but as we age, it produces less. this protein helps keep your joints and bones strong, skin supple and protects your organs. im sure the topic of collagen supplements and powders is not a new one to most people, and with so many on the market to choose from, I wanted share my review and comparison on two different brands and flavours of collagen that I've been taking for the past month
many online articles and studies claim that taking collagen supplements will aid in replenishing your body with the collagen it no longer makes, and will maintain the strength and flexibility of your bones, joints, skin, hair and nails! Umm if that's the case, sign me up!!!

Genuine Health Marine Clean Collagen - 152g, lemon lime (dairy free, gluten free, non GMO, wild caught, antibiotic and hormone free) - 10 grams of hydrolyzed marine collagen/serving, about 15 servings)
Genuine Health's collagen bottles come in different flavours including an unflavoured one but I decided to go for lemon lime. It's a bit strong and needs to be really diluted into a large cup or bottle of water. when mixed with coffee or protein shakes, the lemon lime flavour was too overpowering. the price point on this per gram is less expensive than the Sproos collagen and is actually on sale on amazon right now!  I would want to try this in the flavourless tub next time.

Sproos Marine Collagen - 240g, unflavoured (non GMO, paleo friendly, gluten free, BPA free packaging) - 10 grams of hydrolyzed marine collagen/serving, 24 servings)
Having a flavourless collagen fits better into my lifestyle just because I find it more convenient to mix into my coffee and protein smoothies without altering the taste. The collagen dissolved pretty quickly into my coffee (although I think my coffee was too hot and some of the powder ended up forming chunks but they dissolved within 2-3 minutes)

Sproos Enhanced Collagen Blend Satchel - "Up Your Gut" - apple/ginger
Sproos Enhanced Collagen Blend Satchel - Up Your Skin + Hair" - citrus/green tea
Sproos Enhanced Collagen Blend Satchel - "Up Your Joints" - mango/turmeric
I love the packaging and convenience of these individual satchels for carrying to work, gym or a hike. each contains 7 grams of collagen and is blendable in hot or cold drinks so its perfect for all year round. If I was to choose which I prefer though, I would again prefer the flavourless tub. I was not the biggest fan of these flavours in my water (citrus green tea and apple ginger were not as bad but I really didn't enjoy mango turmeric)

I will continue to incorporate this into my daily routine since it takes little to no effort, doesn't alter my current routine much, and is an inexpensive way to up my health and do some good for my body! I don't think there is a way to see immediate visible results but I don't see the harm in continuing them long-term and more importantly, I FEEL good and happy taking them! As I get older, I definitely am willing to do whatever it takes to help keep my bones and joints strong and keep my skin looking youthful and plump (hopefully LOL)
Do you take collagen and did you have any noticeable results so far?
