Cheese Garden Tasting: Yuzu Pistachio Double Fromage Cheesecake

Tuesday, October 23, 2018

To celebrate Cheese Garden's second anniversary, they're baking up a limited edition, limited time only flavour that I'm loving because it tastes delicious and reminds me of Japan. Introducing the yuzu pistachio double fromage cheesecake - it consists of a layer of rich, smooth, baked pistachio cheesecake and a layer of creamy non-baked yuzu mascarpone cheesecake. Sugarcoated chopped roasted pistachio is added for an extra crunch at the bottom for all you texture eaters (including myself). Yuzu is so underrated and it makes me a happy camper to see it more present in the Toronto food scene lately! The yuzu flavour is super strong in these cheesecakes and I highly recommend that this be your first stop if you've never tried yuzu before. This cheesecake is available until November 4th and only 50 are made daily, so hurry!

Top: Uji Matcha Tiramisu ($12.95)
Right: Yuzu Pistachio Double Fromage Cheesecake ($22.95)
Bottom: Original Double Fromage Cheesecake ($18.95)
The colours of this cake are so vibrant and gorgeous! I also like that unlike traditional American cheesecakes, Japanese ones are a little lighter and fluffier.
This is my favourite of the bunch - the Uji Matcha Tiramisu. I LOVE tiramisu already and this Japanese twist on it just made it even better. The matcha flavour is so intense and strong and the different layers of ladyfingers, matcha cream and fluffy cream cheese is perfect.
