Review, Swatch + Dupes: Rouge Louboutin

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

Hi all! I meant to write about this sooner but didn't have enough time to sit down and write at that moment so here's a late post - better late than never ;) August 1 of last year was the debut of the Rouge Louboutin nail polish in Canada's luxury retailer, Holt Renfrew - this is the first nail polish to be released by designer Christian Louboutin. I was so excited when I first heard he was releasing a nail polish and quickly rushed over after work to snag myself a bottle!

The nail polish is enveloped in a dark and beautiful vial-like bottle, shaped of course, like his infamous sky-high heels. The debut colour of course was his signature red. When I saw it in person, I was even more in love with it!

Several people have been debating whether or not its worth buying (it retails at $60CAD, $50USD) but it really is different depending on your personal preference and what you're buying it for. I bought this as more of a "collector's item" to go with my heels, so it was without a doubt 100% worth it to me. I didn't buy it with the intent to use it more than once or twice so I would say it really depends on your personal shopping habits and what you value.

1 Essie Fifth Avenue
2 Sally Hansen #470 Red My Lips
3 Rouge Louboutin
4 Essie Jag-U-Are

As you can probably see, #2 and #3 are the closest in colours. #2 is by Sally Hansen #470 "Red My Lips" swatched again here!

All colours were released to Holts later in September! Have you checked any of them out? Which are your favourites?

Thanks for reading! Until next time.

  1. I don't think I'd spend that much on nail polish, but I love the bottle. It would be a cool collector's item :)
